When a violent crime occurs, police and community members are often desperate for answers. However, answers — in the form of arrests and charges — made without sufficient evidence will not provide community members with a sense of peace. For example, it is unclear what evidence supports the recent arrests of four men in connection to a Colorado robbery string.
The alleged incidents occurred in May and June and cover six robberies or attempted robberies. The defendants include two cousins, ages 21 and 19, a 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old man. Among the four of them, they face over 92 counts.
The two cousins are said to have been involved in only one of the incidents in conjunction with the older defendant. The other incidents allegedly involved the older defendant and the 28-year-old who are also accused of leaving a halfway house without permission. The robberies or attempted robberies are said to include a bank, a cellphone store, a fast food restaurant and an insurance group. Charges include violation of the Colorado Criminal Control Act, crime violence, escape, burglary, kidnapping, robbery and menacing, among others.
The allegations against the men in connection to the robbery string are serious. If there is sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and they are convicted, the men could face severe consequences.
