On Oct. 18, three individuals allegedly entered a gun shop in Colorado and took about 10 long guns. Police have yet to identify these individuals. Once caught they will likely face burglary and other charges.

According to a recent report, the burglary happened around 4 a.m. in Colorado Springs at Big Jim’s Loans III. Three people entered the pawn shop with their faced covered and walked out with the weapons without incident. This just adds to the over 400 weapons stolen from retail locations in Colorado already this year.

Guns can be hard to come by as not everyone passes the necessary requirements to buy one. This is why gun burglaries seem to be on the rise. The weapons are stolen and then funneled to those individuals who lack the legal ability to purchase them in a store on their own. Unfortunately, those who are found in possession of these stolen weapons, even if they are not the ones who took them, may find themselves facing criminal charges as well.

Law enforcement officials with Colorado’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as the El Paso County Sheriff’s office, are currently offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. As money is usually pretty motivating, when these three individuals are identified and located, each could face serious consequences if they are convicted on the burglary and other charges that will likely be filed against them. While fighting such charges may not be a walk in the park, with the assistance of counsel each of the accused can pursue legal actions that will benefit their individual circumstances.
