Summer is a busy time for law enforcement agencies across Colorado. The summer months - and summer holidays in particular - are often associated with higher rates of drunk driving. As such, drivers in many areas may be more likely to get pulled over than they would be at other times of year.

On probation, and the pitfalls of this deceiving status

Early last month, we wrote a blog post about the bail system and how a new process for bail could dramatically improve the way we deal with people who are accused of a crime. People are certainly working on it, and hopefully someday soon we will see the fruits of their labor. But in the meantime, we are stuck with a less-than-perfect bail system.

Criminal justice is too often unjust when it comes to sex offenses

Our nation's Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law. This also applies to fair treatment for anyone accused of a crime. The importance of context cannot be overstated. Sadly, context and common sense are often disregarded when it comes to prosecuting sex offenses.
