Assault charges filed after Colorado bartender injured

Those who are facing criminal charges in Colorado and other areas of the country often face significant consequences if convicted. Unfortunately, many are not prepared to fully defend themselves. Reports indicate that one man could spend several decades in prison if he is convicted of the attempted murder and assault charges he currently faces.

The charges stem from an alleged incident involving a bartender. Police claim that surveillance footage shows a man wearing a black shirt, red shorts and a baseball cap entering a bar. The man reportedly ordered several drinks and was ultimately left alone with the female bartender after several other customers left.

Police believe that the man followed the woman to the kitchen where he began striking her with a beer bottle. The alleged assault continued for several minutes before the bartender is said to have escaped to a nearby apartment and called police. Officers claim that they were able to track down a man fitting the description of the alleged assailant with images from surveillance footage. After a search of the residence of a man who police say matched the description, they arrested a 34-year-old man who is now accused of first-degree assault and critical attempt of first degree murder.

The attempted murder and assault charges against the Colorado defendant are serious. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 72 years in prison. Because the stakes are so high, he likely wants to ensure that he is fully informed about his options. His criminal defense attorney can help him make the decisions that he will likely face in the coming weeks, including whether to accept a plea deal or fight the charges in court.
