In recent years, many cities were introduced to rentable electric scooters. It seemed like they popped up on every street corner just overnight. For just a small charge, people can take these scooters as far as they want, whenever they want.

These e-scooters come easily accessible to anyone – almost too easy. It’s possible for anyone riding these electric scooters to become the victim of an accident. Here’s what you should know:

Why are electric scooters so hazardous?

The size of these e-scooters makes it hard for drivers to see when one is approaching. A driver may suddenly turn or swerve and cause incidents similar to biking accidents. You could face permanent head or spinal injuries because of an accident on an electric scooter.

These scooters are so easy to come by that anyone can ride them – even the untrained. It doesn’t take a lot for anyone to be able to ride the scooters, but a lack of training could cause serious injuries to an inexperienced rider.

What’s worse is that these scooters don’t provide any form of safety gear. This means any type of injury can become more severe than it should because riders weren’t provided the right riding equipment – like helmets and knee pads.

Who’s liable for your injuries?

In most cases, the person who caused the e-scooter accident is liable for damages and injuries. In other words, if a driver hit you while you were legally crossing the street on an e-scooter then they are at fault for your injuries.

If you were recently in an accident while riding an e-scooter and believe you aren’t at fault then you may need to seek a legal specialist who can help recover your losses.
